Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Welcome back to the blog, y'all! On my day off today, I decided to try my hand at a recipe I discovered on Pinterest: homemade peanut butter dog treats. (Because what dog doesn't love peanut butter!?) The original recipe is from Spaceships and Laser Beams. These healthy dog treats are super simple and fun to make. They turned out great, and my doggies devoured them! In fact, they would have polished off a whole plate if I'd have let them. πŸ˜‰ So now I'm sharing it for all you other dog-lovers out there...

There are only 5 ingredients, and I had all of them in stock. You'll need: whole wheat flour, baking powder, milk, peanut butter, and molasses. Start by collecting your ingredients and preheating your oven to 350* F.

Mix it all together on low...

And don't forget that molasses!

Next, place the dough mixture between sheets of parchment or wax paper and roll to a 1/4 inch thickness. We used bone-shaped cookie cutters for our treats, but a classic circle cutter or any other shape you have will work fine too.

Place the treats on an un-greased cookie sheet and bake for 17 minutes.

Mmm, look at that. Nice. Slide them off the sheet to cool on a wire rack or wax paper.

This recipe made a nice amount of treats! In an airtight container, they'll keep for up to 2 months in the fridge, or 8 months in the freezer. If your pooches let them live that long. πŸ˜‰

Or, you can wrap them up and deliver them to a neighbor doggie. If they're anything like our labradors, you'll instantly become their favoritest human ever.

Of course, "all food must go to the lab for testing", and yes, these PB treats definitely passed the lab test! πŸ˜„ (See what I did there?) Both Chaplain + Lexi wolfed them down without a second sniff. Heads-up to those who are adopting one Lexi's pups next month, I think these would make fantastic training rewards for your fur babies! (Full recipe in the link I included at the beginning.) Happy baking.
